What this calculator does
This tool gives you a quick, indicative estimate of your business’s annual carbon footprint. Put in the figures you already have, your electricity and gas use, company vehicle fuel, and some business travel, and it works out a rough total in tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent, split across Scope 1, 2 and 3. The arithmetic is the same as any carbon calculation: your activity multiplied by a government conversion factor.
What it does not do
This is a starting point, not a compliant document. It uses a small set of indicative factors and a handful of inputs, so the number it gives you is an estimate rather than a figure you could put in front of a buyer. A Carbon Reduction Plan that satisfies PPN 006 has to calculate every required category from the current official factors, report a baseline and current year, set reduction targets, describe your carbon reduction projects, and be signed off at director level. The calculator does none of that. It just helps you see roughly where you stand.

What do Scope 1, 2 and 3 mean?
